Things I've learned recently

One of my New Years resolutions was to learn about and get more involved with social media and so far I am doing pretty well! I've had a Facebook account for some time that I update occasionally and signed up for Twitter about a year ago but never used it. It wasn't until I decided to make an effort that I have come to realize how many benefits there are to using social media! I was of the "who needs to know what I ate for breakfast" mentality but I thought I could at least give it a shot.

Twitter:
Twitter is amazing for getting quick snippets of inspiration and news; there is nothing like it. I would have to check 37 different websites to get a glimpse of what my twitter feed shows. Not to mention the networking and sharing aspect. I am still getting the hang of it but each new person I follow I learn a little more about Twitter, its uses and the type of content to create. {Still getting the hang of the #hashtag.}

Facebook:
I am making an effort to engage with friends instead of just "creep". I've realized that communicating + networking are very different from just reading what's going on with friends. I also started a Facebook page for Tweedle Twill to share specific topics and shop updates. I hope as my shop grows my Facebook will grow as well creating opportunities to interact with potential customers.

Putting it all together:
This is pretty cool. Etsy offers a way to display your shop items in a Facebook tab and on a website or blog, both of which I have done. Etsy also allows you to link your shop to Google Analytics to track and analyze traffic. I've also linked my Tweedle Twill Facebook page with my Twitter. Last but not least, my blog. I really enjoy blogging and tweedletwill.com is my outlet for this. I can write about my projects and inspiration here and share with my network on Facebook and Twitter.
